French as a Foreign Language Teacher Training

This accelerated programme is designed for future independent French as a Foreign Language (FLE) teachers who already have a very strong command of French and want a practical introduction to one-to-one language teaching.

Spread over three to five half-days depending on your starting skills, the training introduces the Swiss Language Academy teaching approach, lesson structure and practical resources for working with adult learners at different CEFR levels.

The objective is practical preparation for teaching: planning a lesson, explaining language points clearly, selecting appropriate exercises and adapting a session to the learner’s level and goal.

The three-to-five-half-day programme includes:

  • access to our dedicated teaching database,
  • teaching material for students at every level,
  • hundreds of exercises covering the subjects taught during lessons,
  • support when you need help explaining a rule or preparing an activity,
  • the possibility of presenting your teacher profile on our website,
  • access to course enquiries received by the Academy,
  • guidance on possible external training or certification routes once you have built teaching experience, subject to the rules of the relevant awarding body.

Prerequisites

  • Native-level French, or an equivalent qualification such as DELF C2, with excellent grammar.
  • Professional presentation.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • A calm and organised approach.
  • An ability to explain and teach clearly.

At the end of the programme, Swiss Language Academy provides a course certificate describing the training completed. This is an SLA training certificate, not a state diploma or an external professional certification.

If you later wish to pursue an external professional qualification, we can help you identify the route to verify with the relevant awarding organisation.
