French as a Foreign Language Teacher Training

Thank you for your interest in our accelerated training programme for independent French as a Foreign Language (FLE) teachers.
Geneva welcomes new expatriates and their families every day. They want to communicate in French and make the most of life in the region. Language schools therefore need qualified and adaptable French teachers. After this training, you will be better prepared for the opportunities available across the Geneva area.
The Swiss Language Academy offers an accelerated programme spread over three to five half-days, depending on the future teacher’s existing skills. It introduces our teaching approach and provides practical, modern and interactive resources for working with students at different levels.
The three-to-five-half-day programme includes:
- access to our dedicated teaching database,
- teaching material for students at every level,
- hundreds of exercises covering the subjects taught during lessons,
- support when you need help explaining a rule or preparing an activity,
- the possibility of presenting your teacher profile on our website,
- access to course enquiries received by the Academy,
- the possibility of pursuing certification in Geneva after 150 hours of effective teaching.
Prerequisites
- Native-level French, or an equivalent qualification such as DELF C2, with excellent grammar.
- Professional presentation.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- A calm and organised approach.
- An ability to explain and teach clearly.
At the end of the programme, you will receive a certificate describing the course content and the levels you are prepared to teach as an independent FLE teacher.
Swiss certification through recognition of prior learning may be possible after 150 hours of effective teaching.
