The Fide test assesses spoken and written skills separately and can provide recognised proof of French for certain residence, settlement and naturalisation procedures. The level and proof required depend on your personal situation and the competent authority. Confirm your requirements first, then we can build a preparation programme around your target and deadline.

Is the Fide test the only accepted proof of French?

No. The Fide language passport is a common route, but DELF, DALF, TCF or TEF certificates may also be accepted if they appear on the official list of recognised certificates when you apply and prove the required level.

Are you a Fide examination centre?

No. Swiss Language Academy provides coaching and preparation but does not organise or administer the exam. The test must be taken at an accredited examination centre.

What level does the Fide test assess?

The Fide test reports oral and written results separately, from A1 to B1. The level required depends on your procedure. For ordinary naturalisation, the current federal minimum is B1 spoken and A2 written.
